TALES FROM THE NORTHERN TERRITORIES #12
Greetings, Interlopers! Welcome to another of your bi-monthly updates, known as Tales From The Northern Territories! The purpose of these little ‘newsletters’, is to touch base with players on how things are going within the game and the fallout of the event of the previous month. In addition, these updates will also provide some extra information on NPCs, along with any additional happenings that might be going on within the game — which may be hints towards the upcoming Test Drive Meme!
Before we jump into things, here are some dates for your diary for this month:
Test Drive Meme — 5th - 7th
CR Meme — 15th
Reserves — 15th - 19th
Applications — 20th - 31st
MOD CHANGES: Chase will be temporarily stepping down as a Helper Mod (and dropping as a player) due to real life obligations. She’ll be aiming to return in the future, and we wish her luck with the real life things! In the meantime, you can still reach out to myself, Jhey and Noodle for anything Mod-Related.
ENDGAME PATH: With the Endgame set for May 2026, a plan has been laid out in terms of the application rounds and Test Drive Memes.
Following October, there will be one final Application round in December which will be open to the public.
Following this, there will be one last application round in February 2026 for Returning Players only.
Players who have previously dropped from the game and have not dead-locked their character out (ie. by killing them off) will be free to return them to the game for the final few months of Singillatim. During this Application round, the character caps will be removed so anyone who does want to return can do so. In short:
November 2025 — Event Month
December 2025 — Final Public Application Round
January 2026 — Event Month
February 2026 — Final Application Round For Returning Players
March 2026 — Event Month
April 2026 — Final Event Month
May 2026 — Finale
CONTENT: October is a non-event month but there will be a Test Drive Meme this month, meaning that there will be an application round! We hope you enjoyed your TFLN Meme last month! This month, players will have their bi-monthly CR Meme.
HOUSEKEEPING: A reminder for players that we have both a Character Location Tracker for players to use to show where their characters are each month. I will link it here, but it can be found on the Areas Page. In addition, we have a Character Impressions Sheet for players to put down first impressions/basic general knowledge of characters that was created by one of our former players! While linked here, this can be otherwise found on the Navigation pages.
INTERLOPER CENSUS 2025:Thank you to everyone who’s currently filled out an answer/response for the Interloper Census 2025! The form is open until October 21st, after which the results will be collated and it’ll be time for another presentation.
If you haven’t already done so, you can fill out the form here!
You can still watch the previous years by following the links below!
INTERLOPER CENSUS 2024
SEPTEMBER’S EVENT
THE AURORA: ENOLA’S VISIT / KICKBACK: There is an uneasy silence following the ‘battle’ between Enola and the Darkwalker, but for now things have shifted into what could almost be a kind of ‘peace’. Nothing is forever, however. A total of thirteen Interlopers were killed during the night of September 21st, marking it as one of the singular deadliest of nights for Interlopers in their time during the Northern Territories. In the cold light of day, Interlopers must work to recover from the night of violence, move to lay the dead to rest and reckon with the consequences of their actions.
AS THE DEAD SLEEP: As September draws to a close, the pull to lay things to rest will begin to ease and will have disappeared by the time October dawns. Hopefully Interlopers have found some catharsis and healing in laying whatever it was to rest that they needed to.
SIGNAL VOID: The searches for bunkers continue after September and Interlopers can continue to work on locating and looting them into October and beyond. Some Interlopers may choose to keep them as caches or stores in case of emergency, or choose to use the bunkers themselves and emergency shelters for their journeys through the Northern Territories. The radio message in morse code will continue to be broadcast at times during Aurora nights, the same message:
PROJECT WINTERMUTE DOWN.
DANGER: AURORA INSTABILITY.
COME AT ONCE.
Who is Operative Bearoak? What is Project Wintermute? What do they mean by the Aurora’s instability? More questions for Interlopers, and while they can discuss amongst themselves — true answers are yet to be revealed.
AND NOW... THE WEATHER
DAYLIGHT: Daylight falls and night grows in the Northern Territories. The days grow shorter and shorter by the day, with eleven hours of daylight from the start of October, falling to six and a half by November 1st. The last sunset of the year falls on November 26th, and from then there will be no sunrise, no daylight. Interlopers with Darkwalker’s Revenge will start to feel fitter and healthier as the month rolls on. Following the last sunset, they will feel at their physical peak — healthy, hale and energized.
WEATHER: With the daylight hours shortening, the temperature continues to drop. True Winter is on the way and the days feel thin and bitter. Sunlight will be weak and barely warm the world. As October goes on, snow fall will be almost constant and the chance of blizzards will increase again. On particularly cold days, hail storms are even likely, with some the size of golfballs during particularly bad storms. It might be best hanging around you Lightbringer buddies, since their warmth and fire abilities will be a huge comfort — or maybe even time with a furry Interloper friend.
AURORA ACTIVITY: High activity, with Auroras appearing almost every clear night there is. Even sometimes on snowy or stormy nights, the telltale signs of an Aurora are present. Interlopers can continue to note the Aurora’s effects on electrical items are a little more erratic — there’s more sparking and flickering of lights. Some bulbs or electronics may begin to blow. The effects on predatory wildlife continue to be more intense at times, too. Interlopers with Aurora Call will be able to hear Enola clearly and hold more simple conversations with her. Their abilities will be boosted during these nights, too. Interlopers with Moon Touched should take care being in wolf form, given that being in this form during Aurora Nights will cause them to go into a vicious, attacking frenzy.
SEISMIC ACTIVITY: Activity is low compared to the previous months. Tremors are minor and sparse, but the earth still feels a little restless at times.
NEW HAPPENINGS IN OCTOBER
CAMPFIRES: Fire is seen as crucial in the Northern Territories, and can often be the difference between life and death. In October, Interlopers are particularly drawn to making and keeping campfires going — especially on calmer days. There’s a kind of communal spirit in the air, with Interlopers drawn to one another to enjoy time around a campfire to hang around and chat.
HOME COOKING: When travelling about their days, whether it’s out and about in town or even out in the wilds of Milton — Interlopers will suddenly be captured by the pleasant smell of something baking. Following their noses, however, will turn up nothing, and they won’t be able to find the source no matter how hard they look. A terrible kind of torture for the hungry Interloper! Even Interlopers with Efficient Machine will find themselves tempted by the smells, and Free Runners will be incredibly cranky and frustrated at not being able to find the source of the smell.
NPCs
METHUSELAH: It’s business as usual for Methuselah. He predominantly stays within the Lakeside and Milton areas, given the dangers of traversing the Milton Dam to get through to the Coast. He mostly keeps to himself, but will return to Milton mid-month to help prepare for the Feast and the latest batch of Interlopers.
MARRA: With the Aurora Nights helping the broadcast of the shortwave radios, Marra will occasionally send messages to Interlopers in Morse Code. She will ask Interlopers for information on what events occurred in September and send reports back on the situation in Silverpoint. In general: things are as well as they can be, and there are still no sightings of ships on the horizon. She will share any emergency broadcasts with Interlopers she’s received, including the one from Operative Bearoak.
ENOLA: After September, and her fight with the Darkwalker — Enola is silent for a short time until she will return to speak to Interlopers on Aurora Nights. She will assure Interlopers that she is safe and well, albeit licking her wounds a little. I don’t lie down so easily. she will say. I’ve bought us some time, but just as I told you before: time’s running out. Things are moving quickly. The Darkwalker doesn’t lie down so easily, either. It will continue to try to hunt you down. Learn to use your new gifts, if you can. Fight. Survive.
MOLLY + JACE: Molly continues to act as a go-between with Interlopers and Marra, and continues to trade with Interlopers. Jace is excited for the winter storms, advising that this is the best time for things to wash up on shore for those who prefer to scavenge and beachcomb.
FATHER THOMAS: Father Thomas continues to be around for Interloper who require spiritual guidance, or religious needs, and welcomes anyone who wants to attend his Sunday Services when they’re staying in the village.
